Jaguar Jam's first performance of 2010!!

I am so proud of our fantastic Orff Ensemble and Chorus! The Sigma Gamma Rho Youth Symposium at Regency Square Mall was a great opportunity to share the awesome message that a quality music education is important for EVERY child. Thank you for all your hard work, kids...and VERY SPECIAL thanks to your families for helping to make sure it happened. We couldn't have done it without you!

Congratulations...to the NEW Jaguar Jam!

It is exciting to finally have the 2009-2010 Jaguar Jam Orff Ensemble selected! Our first rehearsal will be on Thursday, November 5th in the Music Portable, from 3:15-4:10 PM.

I thought you also might want to meet the REASON Jaguar Jam is so late to start this year: Wyatt Alexander! Thanks for being patient with me while I get adjusted to motherhood. I look forward to working with all our new members!

Goin' to the Symphony!!

Our 5th Grade Chorus and our Jaguar Jam musicians had a great time going to Jacoby Symphony Hall at the Times-Union Center for Performing Arts to hear the Jacksonville Youth Symphony Orchestra play! Our field trip this past Monday, April 27th was a great opportunity for our young musicians to hear OTHER extraordinary young musicians play in the annual "Kids 4 Kids" concert.

Wasn't PTA's Cultural Arts Day AWESOME??!!! All the performers were so great! Make sure you thank the PTA ladies when you see them.

I'll miss you during Spring Break...practice your recorders!!

Love, Mrs. Laymon

A New Year brings new music!!

Well, we are well into the swing of things in this new semester! We are working hard on learning some new pieces, like the Pachelbel Canon, Popcorn, and even some original, student composed canons! (In case you're wondering--that's like a round. ) I'm so glad that we have this semester together. I love working with these kids!
